16 and pregnant.....what about 18 and in college?

I know almost everyone has watched at least one episode of the MTV series 16 & pregnant. I may be the only person that doesn't understand the point of the show. Is it to expose teenage girls and their hardships during pregnancy and during parenting? Or has it become a show to help them make money and make them a "reality show star"? Season after season, they have new teenage girls on the show that are pregnant and deciding whether or not to be responsible for their actions or to continue living the life they used to have. The show's purpose has fallen from informative to pure entertainment for the audience. I don't understand why these girls are getting famous and paid for being pregnant and young, when there are girls that are attending college and trying to make something of themselves. Why don't we have a show called 18 and in college? Is it because it wouldn't be as entertaining as seeing "baby mamas" and "baby daddies" fighting? I think we educated girls should get way more credit for making it this far.

  1. I absolutley loved this post! I agree with what you've stated, it's a silly show receiving so many credentials for no reason, but in the long run they run short!!!!

  2. I without a doubt agree on this with you. Although I watch it it has really became more about being on a reality show then on showing what the young teens go through when they get pregnant.

  3. I absolutely agree with that. I did not even notice until now that we talked about the same thing in our blogs. Why not have a show about 18 in college; it simply sends out a better message. They are promoting teen pregnancy without even realizing it.

  4. girl you said it all!! its like they are trying to make pregnancy a hobby. they never show the footage where the mom breaks down and hopes her baby will live because she knows she's broke. i watched maybe one season and yea it was entertaining but it made me want to wait also; and i think many girls probably had the same reaction.
